Mostly my dad and mom's depression had a very negative effect. My dad's suicide removed him from being there for his children and my mom's depression removed her from being there for us as well.
I am extremely grateful that she managed to keep a roof over our heads and food in the fridge. I am also so grateful for the love that my parents showered on us pre-suicide.
I have been profoundly affected by the circumstances of my life post-suicide and, 20 years later, I am still attempting to face the pain and to learn how to dream of the future.
