My mothers harsh treatment and neglect have greatly effected my self-image. I have virtually no slef-esteem, I have problems expressing my feelings and asking for things. I am very scared of rejection and constantly try to please others. Like my mother I suffer from Major Depressive Disorder. I believe that I developed the disorder as a direct consequence of having been reared in an abusive environment by a depressed and controlling mother.
