A sign of a mental illness would be a person who feels that someone is talking about them.They appear suspicious, argumentive and distrustful of others. This would imapct their functioning in the community because they would be so paranoid that the conflicts would prevent a person from functioning. This would cause others to refrain from talking around that person for fear of offending that person. The individualwith the MI may withdraw and not socialize with ohters for fear of redicule and embarrassment. Making the person even more withdrawn forom others. MI can render a person to be more of a recluse.
